Sri Lanka, 1 - 19 - 2006: Sri Lanka govt has responsibility to probe attacks - Minister Silva

The Minister said, “TNA MPs had expressed their dissatisfaction about the search operation in Colombo, but the President informed that if LTTE is not doing those things, the government had full responsibility to conduct investigations into these incidents.”

This is exactly what we want to hear. Don't we? Also no interfearance to police search. I am sorry to tell that Tamils in the south are living with Sinhalese but doing all sorts of things to support LTTE terrorists. They have forgotten the fact that if the country gets divided along racial lines and if Sinhalese side tells them to leave to North, what would be their situation? We are not terrorists and we tollerate everything you gys do including the protest inside the Parliment. Can you alow any Sri Lankan Sinhalese MP to go to north LTTE captured area and do a such a protest like the way the TNA MPs' did in the parliment. Let's be human first!

Sri Lanka, 1 - 17 - 2006: Parliament adjourns after Tamil MPs' protest inside the House

Unbelievable! Why did these guys not protest after Mr Lakshman Kadiragamar was assassinated or for the killing of over 70 Sri Lankan people by LTTE? We have given all constitutional rights to these Tamil MPs' but still they claim we discriminate them. I do not think these Tamil MPs' are protesting on behalf of the Tamil people. I think they themselves are scared of life and they are getting to realize the ultimate outcome of supporting a terrorist organization. Sri Lanka should ban these MPs' traveling overseas on the basis of supporting a terrorist organization. It's simple as that. I do not understand why the government not ban these terrorist organizations and put restrictions on people who are supporting the terrorist activities?
Look..these guys are using the same international airport that they bombed and destroyed. They live in Colombo where they bombed almost everywhere and have killed thousands. They use the Sri Lankan passports to travel. Tamil Companies operating in colombo use the profits generated by transactions with Sinhalese people to fund LTTE and then inturn to kill our own people. We should look at the reality and act accordingly.

Parliament adjourns after Tamil MPs' protest inside the House
Tuesday, January 17, 2006, 13:37 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

The MPs protested the deaths of TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham nd five Tamil students in Trincomalee.
Jan 17, Colombo: The maiden Parliament session of the New Year was adjourned until tomorrow after Tamil Parliamentarians began shouting slogans against recent killings in the North and East.

The session started around 9.30 this morning, but MPs from the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC), Upcountry Peoples' Front (UPF) and Western Province Peoples' Front (WPPF) blocked the way through which the Speaker and Sergeant-at-Arms were to take the mace to the Speaker’s table.

To solve the matter, the Speaker adjourned the Parliament for fifteen minutes. After resuming the session, the same MPs again started to shout slogans against the killing of TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham and five Tamil students in Trincomalee.

The continued protest led the Speaker to adjourn the Parliament until the next day

Kumaratunga faces land deal suit

Divide this land among the tsunami victims. What is she going to do with a 1.5 acre land? Playing golf or what?
I guess Victor Ivon is taking this matter simply to get the revenge for the cases she put against him when she was in power. Great..Let them spend money on this.

BBC NEWS | World | South Asia | Kumaratunga faces land deal suit: "Kumaratunga faces land deal suit
Former Sri Lankan president, Chandrika Kumaratunga
Land given to Ms Kumaratunga is next to the parliament
Former Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga is facing legal action over land given to her when she left office.

The court of appeal said it would rule on whether the land deal and other 'perks' awarded to Mrs Kumaratunga by the cabinet were unconstitutional.

It is the first time a former Sri Lankan president has faced such action.

Ms Kumaratunga's spokesman said the land, in a suburb of the capital, had been granted to her by cabinet. He said she had been informed of the law suit.

Prime location

Mrs Kumaratunga has been allocated one and half acres of prime land in the suburb of Madiwela, next to the Sri Lankan parliament.

The petition against the former president was brought by Victor Ivan, editor of Sinhala-language weekly Ravaya Sinhala.

He says the land deal and the award of security personnel to Mrs Kumaratunga are in breach of the 1986 Presidential Privileges act.

While in office, Sri Lankan presidents have constitutional immunity, but according to a Supreme Court ruling immunity does not apply to former presidents.

Mrs Kumaratunga's spokesman, Piyadasa Dissanayake, told the BBC Sinhala Service that he could not "

BBC is bias towards Tamil Tigers Terrorists

budget.BBC NEWS | South Asia | Sri Lanka monitors hit by blast

BBC is bias towards Tamil Tigers

I have never come across a news web site with the same two sentences at the end of each news item other than the BBC. In our world we call it "misleading" the readers.

Below are the BBC'’s two conclusion sentences that they copy and paste at the end of every news item whenever it relates to the Tamil tiger terrorist activities in Sri Lanka.

The Tamil Tigers want a separate homeland in the north and east of Sri Lanka.”
“More than 60,000 people died during two decades of conflict with Sri Lanka's security forces.”

Other than this, look at the prominence given to the profile of the terrorist leader with the democratically elected leaders of Sri Lanka? Have you guys ever seen the Profile of Bin Laden listed with the profile of Tony Blair or George W Bush in BBC or CNN websites?

BBC have listed the Tamil Tiger demands as proposals and interestingly nothing about any proposal made by the Government of Sri Lanka. Hello.. Have you people at BBC forgotten that the LTTE is a terrorist group and the fact that these are demands and not proposals?

Where is the quality of BBC news? What exactly BBC expect the reader to get by copying and pasting the exact same two lines in all of its Sri Lanka related news. It is very unfortunate the UK government funded news broadcaster with a history of news reporting gone in to such a low level by reporting terrorist activities, undermining a democratically elected government.

Shame on you BBC!

Sri Lanka, 1 - 13 - 2006: Sri Lanka plans twenty factories for each district

Sri Lanka, 1 - 13 - 2006: Sri Lanka plans twenty factories for each district

Another indirect way of fooling us for sure. Where are the facts and figures to blindly come out and say that each district of Sri Lanka needs 20 factories. From where they came up with this number??

Janapathi's view is that it has to be a market oriented approach than an 'elakkam' oriented political approach. What is the point of having 20 factories manufacturing some junk products funded by this new lankaputhra bank? Is this project aim at creating new activities for this new bank and a way to transfer money to 'henchaiya's' pockets? I wonder!

Mr. Common Sense..
Encourage food processing factories where they grow pineapple, mango and other vegetables. Introduce, educate and promote new packaging technologies to compete in the world market. Not with the aim of stocking at Sathosa.. Promote furniture export factories where we have skills and resources in making furniture. Introduce, educate and promote to set up canned fish factories in tsunami effected coastal areas.
Then let the market size decide the number of factories needed. Otherwise this will be another 'sudu aliya' project for sure.

Welcome to Janapathi'ge Bloga !

This is my first post after I got elected as your Janapathi :) You are free to comment on my posts but to assure the readability, I won't be publishing any posts that contain inappropriate language or any extreamist political views. At this moment, I have no clue what I am doing with this. Hope I will find a way to tune this bloga inline with my 'Janapathi Chinthane'. That's all for now my friend.. Enjoy reading!
