Federalism?

IF I remember correct Sri Lankan government and leading Tamil politicians in south are talking of Federalism since we started the so called one sided cease-fire agreement.
When it comes to LTTE terrorists, they have clearly stated that they do not want anything else other than a separate state. They have repeated it clearly.
JVP, the main political party in south (let’s learn to accept it..) has clearly stated that they do not want any federal solution either.
In my opinion I do not see the point for UNP and PA with the backing of Tamil political parties in south to talk about a Federal solution or any kind of a power sharing deal. It does not have the backing of the majority of people living in South as well as from the LTTE terrorists. So we are just killing time here, talking and dreaming of living in peace without realizing we all are sitting on top of an active volcano.

BTW, with time pass by, more and more people in south will turn in to radical extremist parties like JVP and JHU while Tamils in the north will convert themselves to become LTTE terrorists. This trend is very clear if analyze the increase of votes for JVP and JHU over the last 5 elections and also the number of southern tamil political parties getting aligned with the LTTE terrorists.
Inmy opinion allowing this trend to continue is more dangerous than fighting a war. If US can invade Iraq and capture Sadam, I do not see any reason why a well equipped army, navy and airforce can simply invade LTTE controlled areas and capture the terrorist Parbahakaran and the gang. We have wasted many years talking of federalism and going round trips around the world with terrorists, talking of peace talks without achieving anything in return. Instead we have made LTTE terrorists more strengthen and given them free publicity.
Our economy has not improved as a result of not fighting a war. Inflation is worse compared to the time of the war. So what’s the point.
Instead, If we focused on eliminating terrorists and assuring peace and democracy in the country similar to what US and EU is doing in Iraq and Afghanistan, I won’t be writing this today
No matter what you think, whether you like it or not..no one can stop another war. It's sad. But that's the reality and let's learn to accept it.

Mr. President.. you know how to come up with some new names in Sinhala for every problem. This time it is ‘Maga Neguma’. The real name in the past is ‘repairing the roads’. Breaking and making roads is a thing you all did since independence and you are continuing it.. Nothing new..except this new name..
Repairing roads is not a new thing and the government should make it happen because all of us are paying road taxes every year for you to do it. So how come our money got this new name? Like giving names to babies. It’s same shit.. just a different name..isn't it?

It is easy to say or give another promise to bring down the cost of living.
How? from your Mahinda Chinthanaya? I don not think so..

Mr. President.. you have done nothing so far other than doing your populist policies and re-naming problems. The implications of your actions are long term.

Why it’s important to highlight the facts?
Donating money to LTTE terrorists knowing the facts and donating money under threat or by force is two different issues.

1. How do you know that the people donate to LTTE terrorists really know the fact of where the children and families of LTTE terrorist leaders are and who is funding them?
2. What if the people who listen to LTTE stories and donate does not know the fact of not having proper accounting and auditing process for the money they donate and no way to verify who take the funds and how they utilize the funds?
3. What if the person who donate believes that the funds goes to the people effected by Tsunami without knowing some middle man is pocketing it as commissions for smuggling arms to LTTE terrorists?

So that is why it is important for the international community to highlight these issues. Those who support LTTE terrorists will anyway donate money. But we all know it is a minority and most of them do not know the real picture of what LTTE does with funds other than the reports they read from the proLTTE news website Tamilnet.

The other part of your comments about the LTTE terrorists not interested on having a peaceful solution and funding terrorism is totally correct.
The problem now for LTTE terrorists is to find a way out of fighting other Tamil groups such as Karuna’s group, EPDP group and other breakaway groups who are becoming stronger in different areas. That is why they are begging from the Sri Lankan government to disarm other groups except for them.

Why they still demand for a Tamil Homeland?
Without eliminating other tamil groups LTTE terrorists can not agree on any power sharing solution. Remember, other tamil groups are the majority. They really represent the tamil community in Sri Lanka for decades such as Mr. Thondaman’s group, Chandrasekaran’s group etc and they can influence any tamil vote more than the LTTE terrorists. If LTTE terrorists agree on any democratic solution, they know that will be the end result.
That is the reason for keep on demanding for a tamil homeland that they all know will never become a reality. They can not agree on any democratic solution.

I sincerely hope this 25million is a printing mistake. Like I have said in my previous posts, all governments are making plans, feasibility studies wasting millions.. No need to make plans, just stop the waste, that itself will develop our country. By making plans, they are dragging the country backwards.

I got an email from Mr. Vasudeva Nanayakkara. I posted a comment few weeks back on his website www.vasudevananayakkara.com. Never thought Mr. Nanayakkara will have time to send me a personal reply.

A hard to find politician who fought with people, expressing his views openly without bending the back to any party politics.
I do not agree with the socialist policies but do respect anyone who come out to defend and promote socialist polices. Open economy has its pluses and minuses. I think it is important for a country to gradually open up an economy, building the social ethics, morals and giving enough time for local businesses to adjust for the new environment. Simply opening up the economy, is the biggest blunder our then president Mr JR Jayewardane did.
The people stood against that policy highlighting the weaknesses of the open economy was/now in power is responsible for selling key national assets to foreign countries.
From the same lot, all of a sudden one minister became our present President and started to promote populist policies to attract more votes. That is where I have my difference of opinion with Mr Vasudeva Nanayakkara. You should have go on your own rather than getting in to the trap of the 'Mahinda Chinthanaya'.
I do not believe it is possible to change back to a self sufficient economy today from where we were yesterday. A very good example is the total failure of the 'Fertilizer Subsidy', the very first thing implemented by our president.
Nothing wrong with the concept at all. All developed countries use subsidies to protect farming and agri industries. The difference is they do it to compete in the world market and we did it for the sake of election promises.

You may come across stories of innocent tamil people getting killed or getting arrested as a result of the provocative acts of LTTE in the past. At the end of the day, by killing innocent people, LTTE terrorists has not achieved anything closer to a Tamil Homeland.
Understandably, each of the bombs, killings and assassinations are contributing towards more and more sinhalese people turning in to radicals and sinhalese extremism making the life of your own tamil brothers and sisters living in the south of sri lanka more and more difficult.

If this is a government statement, then let me ask these questions.
1. Who is funding the cost of living and the cost of education of the LTTE leader and others kids, all living and studying in Europe?
2. Who are the Auditors of LTTE Accounts and Funds?
3. How many people still living without a proper shelter in the north of Sri Lanka after the tsunami, while LTTE is blocking the government of Sri Lanka helping them?
4. Without a reason, no one will donate money to any organization. If 'final war' is not the reason then what else?
5. How many condominium projects have come up recently along the 'Marine drive' and how many units belongs to Tamil people living in south of Sri Lanka? How these people became rich all of a sudden?
6. How the money gets transfered to the LTTE terrorist hands from the US, Europe and Australia? Non of the western governments who are actively fighting terrorism in there own backyards have traced this route? Isn’t this the easiest way to stop terrorism without spending millions on waging a war against them?

Our President has done an economic miracle on par with India. If we can keep this 8% momentum, we will be able to be on par with Singapore in another 5-10 years time.

Guys.. go out and look around what is going on outside Sri Lanka. What this government has done over the last few months except for allocating billions to give subsidies, increase pension benefits, giving free meals to schools, recruiting thousands to government departments and buy back excess crop? Apart from above populist programs, government has not done anything to improve the economy (I mean a value addition). Do not try to confuse people with economic growth measured on the basis of GDP to economic development.
What we lack is economic and social development in sri lanka. Running behind economic growth is the latest cover-up similar to the “mahinda chinthanaya’.

Let me highlight some examples..
What infrastructure projects this government has initiated targeting long-term economic benefits? We do not have a single expressway in sri lanka although all previous and present governments have talked, promised and spent millions on feasibility studies and making plans. One famous example is the Southern Expressway. The money spent on making proposals, wasting time over this kind of 'sudu aliya' projects could be way above the entire tsunami re-building cost.
How can these people talk of a 8% growth when they take 10 years to make a simple overhead bridge across a road? Ex: Borella intersection.

Apart from expressway projects, the normal road network and the condition of roads can be compared to or worse than a 3rd world undeveloped country. I do not think it even comes closer to the standards of a developing country.
While saying so, we should not forget the fact that the most of the good roads we have today is due to the effort of our former president Mr. Premadasa or the British occupiers.

Still no government has initiated a project to link the road development projects integrate with telephone, water and drainage systems. This very visible problem is wasting billions every year, wasting time and creating traffic jams. Yet, no government wants to sort out this simple problem. All they know is to dig and now they talk of 'e-sri lanka' wasting time on designing home pages. ex: have a look at the parliament website.

Electricity is another major issue. Sometimes back, we had a electricity blackout time table to save the limited electricity. What actions we have taken to overcome this problem? Norochchole cole project is still a dream due to religious and political objections. Have we taken any more actions to sort this problem? NO. Instead have wasted millions on feasibility, environmental studies. All Bullshit...

Drinking water. When we were small, my parents never had to buy drinking water. Look at the situation now? How many water bottling plants operating in Sri Lanka? What does that mean? Our water supply system has gone backwards. Very soon, the government will start taxing water bottles when they realize the demand and teh amount of money people spending on drinking water.

Good work Dr. Go to sleep.. you must be tired of explaining this kind of bullshit..

I am not saying anything for Norway. It is the Sri Lankan Government ministers who should be ashamed of for holding hands and walking down the aisle with Terrorists. I think this peace talks was the biggest cover up out of all. When Ranil had talks, he basically tried to negotiate a price for the land those LTTE terrorists occupied. When CBK had talks, she accused Ranil and then went and got herself naked in front of Norway. Now the 3rd fellow.. this so called popular president sent a fatass to talks and they went hand in hand holding each other on the red carpet with the LTTE terrorists and then lied about the entire episode.

I do not see the point blaming Norway for our own weaknesses. This is similar to blaming the agent for getting infected with AIDS, after having sex with the prostitute they provided.

Norway is playing a dirty game and we all know it. Unless the prostitute is sooooo sexy, I can not understand how all our presidents come clean and then ended up sleeping with them. Errrr… Imagine that fatass terrorist Anton with our fatass minister Nimal. Ok..that’s it.. I have to go and throw up..

Who is advising the President? People like Mr. Nivad Ajith Cabral are just accountants turned politicians. If the president needs good economic advisers, I am sure we have enough resources in our university system. Interesting to see how the porn stars like Ravindra Randeniya, Bookkeepers like Ajith Nivad Cabral is going to run our economy. May be it is the way to go. May be Mr. Rajapakse is getting advisers to act better than his predecessors. May be Mr. Cabral is showing the president how to balance the demand and supply by stocking the goods in government departments. Another dickhead is advising to recruit thousands of jobless graduates to govt departments to do a job that can be done by few hundreds.
Another jonny is advising to start the Katunayaka-Colombo expressway, spending billions and then to stop work halfway to get court approvals. Another fatass had talks with terrorists and lied to the entire sri lanka about what they discussed and agreed upon. Great work Mr. President. This is just the start, isn't it? Keep it up..

Ranil is in Norway washing the white asses, trying to cut a deal or somehow find a way out, not to win the elections but to protect his own ass. Shame on him.

TNA and LTTE terrorists both know if the government conducts a free and fair election, the entire world will be able to see the real state of them.

Colombo-Katunayake expressway - New President and New Projects

This project was going on for years. Two weeks back Mr President announced of a 2nd international airport. Now all of a sudden a highway to the existing airport. So the intentions are very clear. More projects, more money to political ‘henchaiyas’.
This is clear lack of vision and direction. We all can remember the Baseline highway project. The time they took to extend the duplication road across the Muslim school due to political pressure. The fate of the Marine Drive due to the former president of the institute of chartered accountants of Sri Lanka, Mr. Lal Nanayakkara’s tuition joint.

The galle road still has two tracks per side and basically one track is reserved for parking. During the President Premadasa period they separated the sides with a pavement wider than 1 track. Then when Ranil came to power they destroyed all the overhead road crossings built by the previous president.

During CBK period, they widened the Katunayaka-Marawilla road and before even they start the project the political ‘henchaiyas’ manage to eliminate every big tree along the road.
From Katunayaka to Colombo, non of the pavements are properly maintained, the road is in very poor condition and too narrow. People cross the road the way they want and no overhead road crossings to ease out the traffic problems.

Above are just to refresh your memories. Now what.. a new president and its like he migrated to Sri Lanka yesterday from heaven. The question is not about whether we should have an expressway or not. The question is, have we learned from our past experiences? What’s the difference of planning this project and launching it compared to all the previous mega projects related to road development in Sri Lanka? Have we changed any law giving government any powers to acquire property needed for this road. One court case can delay this project by 1 year.
I am very confident that we won’t be able to finish this by the end of 2009 or will not be even starting at all.

This is just a waste of money and a project to make Mr. Presidents friends and relations make money.

During the last round of Peace Talks the terrorist Anton Balasingham said clearly that they can not discuss so much crimes and violations that they have committed as per the reports put forward by the government of sri lanka.

Ranil is the reason why UNP lost the last election. It is his poor taste and the inability to understand the people living outside Colombo. In my opinion, Ranil really deserved the results he got.
He did not even had the backbone to wish the winning candidate or to accept the responsibility for the defeat. Shame on him.
Even now, by flying to Norway, what he is trying to do is to win the support of the LTTE terrorists and by using them to get the support of Thondaman. When he does not have the support within his own party and people, he is trying to get the support from the LTTE terrorists and Norway. After the election, he should migrate to the wanni shit holes, so that he can live with his beloved friend Prabhakaran.
I am sure his wife will give her fullest consent for it.

When compared to previous UNP leaders, this fellow is the worst leader that the UNP has ever got and is a person who is even ready to sell his wife to win an election. Even the LTTE terrorists did not take his promises and they boycotted the last election.

President should be really careful about his life at this election and the months to come. Especially with Norway and Ranil both having problems in carrying out their hidden agendas due to the influence of the JVP and JHU. The most likely result could be another trap similar to the one Mr. Kadiragarmer got himself in to. Even Ranil did not condemn the assassination of Mr. Kadiragarmer.

During the last election, the use of religions and trying to create religious tensions by attacking the hard line policy statements of JHU was a very poor decision. Also getting in to the trap of Mr. Lalith Kothalawala who tried to show the country the power of his money and religion also failed in front of the people power.

UNP should find a new strong leader who can take up the JVP/JHU extreme ideas head on. At least a guy who can give a constructive answer to a question. Otherwise mixing UNP with the Ranil and Norway hidden Church agendas will definitely wipeout the UNP totally from the Sri Lankan politics. That could be the most likely result of this election.

One good thing about our previous Uduruwana’s talks compared to the present one is, at least the LTTE terrorists knew that they got something out of it. A movie not to be missed. The real truth of this so called ‘globalization’. The real truth of NGO businesses. I was thinking whether the ‘hell’ that our religions talk about exists in this planet. I would really like to see this movie to win the Oscar for the “best picture’.

I am regular reader of our Dailynews internet edition. Needless to say that it only took my interest due to the contents. Before this, the site looked like the 'uduruwana's notebook'
Very recently, they have started some new developments. Even it's not perfect, it is good to see that they are trying and doing some good work to improve the ‘look and feel’ effect of the site. As a result of it, today it has gone “color blind’. I like this new appearance.

Also a good idea if you can list the profiles of our leaders in a separate section similar to the BBC, and another section with the links to the old news articles related to the crimes committed by the terrorist LTTE group over the years.
Or else, links to the profiles of our sinhalese and tamil leaders assassinated by the LTTE Terrorists. If BBC can do such things as an independent news channel, I do not see any problem your newspaper doing it.

Sri Lankan President optimistic over ICT for Sri Lanka's development

Our president is proposing to increase the ICT knowledge from present 10% to 60%.
The first question is how he came up with the present 10% figure?

He has also said that the present literacy rate in Sri Lanka is 90%. In the meantime, he has forgotten to mention the unemployment rate both jobless as well as under-employed.
Instead, our president is suggesting the possibility of farmers using computers as a production tool. You Mr. President , should have first googled and studied the facts and figures before reading any garbage shit written by your advisers.
1. How many of our farmers can understand a single word of English? Did you ask for those figures? NO.
2. What tools can a farmer use? To do a production plan, sales forecast? Funny. Most of them are praying for water.
3. How many of them have a table at home to keep this shit?

May be you can invent a computer to run from bio gas!

Mr. President. Did you forget the facts that we exported rice during the king Parakumba period. Do you think he had computers at that time? No.
The simple fact is, we have gone backwards over the years due to these kind of stupid projects that politicians trying to impose on people with or without their hidden agendas.

We have a university system contributing to more and more unemployment in Sri Lanka. Reason is, it is creating high expectations among graduates with skills that does not match the needs of the country. Yes, first of all we do not have measures to identify the “skills needed for the country”. We should understand that when more and more people get in to one field of study, it will have a big problem in finding recruitment in that particular field in Sri Lanka as well as finding suitable candidates for other needed areas of our economy. For example, 10-15 years back we had this boom for Accounting and many people ran behind the accounting qualifications such as CIMA, CA etc. It was same with Computing. Look at the amount of accounting qualified people, computer qualified people in Colombo working for cents. Longterm, most of these people will decide on migrating to other countries for better prospects.
So at the end of the day, you will always have this 10% ICT figure. Funny isn’t it?

I think we have more than enough of IT educated people to match the demand. The issue is, the highly skilled IT guys will opt to migrate than serving the country. So you are trying to create more and more such people without having any plans what you are going to do with them.

Build a high tech Arms factory in Sri Lanka. We need it. Look at the amount of money we pay for Arms every year. We still have a bunch of idiots to kill and destroy in coming days. That will create more jobs, save money for the country and also we can go on hunting. Mark the bullets with the names such a “kadir”, ‘premadasa”, “ranjan”, “densil” etc..for our great leaders assassinated by them.
Bullets like "Densil", "Kadir" can even worth making from pure gold.
Yes, Go hunting. Kill them one by one using our own weaponry.
