SUICIDE ATTACK: The 243rd suicide bomb attack carried out by the world's most ruthless terrorist organisation - the LTTE - aiming to eliminate Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka, and reported attempts being made to attack the Trincomalee Naval Base has compelled the Sri Lankan Air Force to attack the terrorist camp in Sampur, Trincomalee inflicting heavy damages to the terrorists.
Immediately after the suicide attack Terrorist Intelligence Chief Pottu Amman's website 'Tamileditors' flashed in bold letters "Sarath Fonseka has been seriously injured in a bomb blast in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo."
This flash was captioned "mass murderer seriously injured". It also said, that "all five of his bodyguards were killed on site".
In its despicable customary manner the terrorist outfit would certainly deny its involvement in this suicide expedition and it would be followed by supportive statements from their sanitizers, the Norwegians, the SLMM and the dollar worshipping Sinhala peace merchants trying to implicate responsibility of this heinous crime on an imaginary third party as it had done in many previous occasions.
Commander Fonseka, a great and fearless son of Sri Lanka was the terrorist outfit's most hated and despised person in the Sri Lankan security establishment.
The terrorist outfit's hatred towards Commander Fonseka is very deep-seated.
During the two dark years of terrorist appeasement under the premiership of Ranil Wickremesinghe it was Lt. Gen. Fonseka who had the guts, and a true Sri Lankan mettle to stand against implementation of steps urged by the terrorist outfit to endanger the safety of our Security Forces and the sovereignty of the nation.
He stood firmly against trimming the areas of the High Security Zones that could endanger and expose the Palaly airbase, KKS harbour and the lives of Security Forces members to terrorist artillery.
Peace merchants
A five-page secret document titled 'De-escalation plan' submitted by Fonseka, who was a Maj. General at that time, called for disarming the terrorists and decommissioning of their long-range weapons in return for re-settlement of displaced persons in the High Security Zone.
The Wickremesinghe Government attempted to evade his patriotic recommendations by bringing down Lt. Gen. Nambiar of India to report on the issue and the Indian General also accepted the validity of Gen. Fonseka's recommendations, and fully endorsed it.
Thus, Sri Lanka fortunately was able to avoid the Palaly airbase, KKS naval base and the precious lives of 40,000 Security Forces stationed in the peninsula falling into the hands of the terrorist outfit.
It also helped to put a stop to drastically reducing the number of army camps in the peninsula, though the Wickremesinghe Government reduced the number of camps to 88 from the original number of 152.
Gen. Fonseka's appointment as Commander of the Army from December 6, 2005 was unpalatable not only to the terrorist outfit but also to the dollar hungry Sinhala peace merchants, who are being paid sumptuously to prolong the peace facade and enable the terrorist outfit to gain strength militarily, economically and diplomatically.
These "peace merchants" castigated him as a warmongering hardliner, and continued to refer to him with this appellation whenever they made any mention about him.
In an interview given to Daily Mirror (10.12.2005) Commander Fonseka admitted that the terrorists have improved their firepower since the truce.
He said his priority would be to change tactics and equipment as part of a long-term plan to modernise the Army. He disclosed that the LTTE has emerged as a powerful force mainly because the Government failed to control the terrorist activities.
Referring to the ignominious CFA Commander Fonseka rightly pointed out in this interview that there are many loopholes in the Ceasefire Agreement and the LTTE has gained from it and hence it should be reviewed.
He said that before the signing of the CFA, the Tigers were not in a position to continue with the war, mentally or militarily, but the CFA had helped them to improve their firepower. In true spirit of a patriot he also declared that he has a lot of battlefield experience with the LTTE and they won't judge him as a weak man. He said he hopes to be a challenge to any terrorist activity in the country and indeed, he wants to be a challenge.
Shadow war
The restraint shown by the Government amidst the continued shadow war carried out by the terrorists murdering hundreds of Security Forces personnel and the innocent citizens had surpassed all tolerable limitations. The time has dawn for the Government to be firm with this murderous gang, militarily, economically and internationally.
The Government must use its constitutional right to thwart all attempts being made by these murderers as it was done at Sampur. At the same time following measurers should also be taken to liberate the areas and the innocent people held under the jackboots of this gang.
* Intensify the propaganda campaign throughout the world to expose the atrocities and the ruthless nature of this gang who are linked to Al Qaida and provide arms procurement, training, drug trafficking and money laundering facilities to other leading terrorist organisations in the world.
* Call upon all friendly countries to help Sri Lanka to put an end to three decades of terrorist atrocities.
* Declare the occupational areas as a war zone and urge peace loving residents to move out from these areas.
* Disconnect electricity, water and other supplies to these areas, for which the Government spends heavily.
* Halt transport of petrol, diesel, kerosene and other material that may sustain the terrorist murderers.
* Restrict all South Indian fishing boats entering to the Sri Lankan territory which are only supply convoys disguised as fishing boats.
* Instruct all INGOs and NGOs operating in the occupation area by foreigners to leave the area within a reasonable time frame.
* Bombard strategic military and naval targets and the illegal airstrip making them ineffective and thwart all possible action they could take against the Government Forces.
* Declare an amnesty to all terrorists who surrender to the Security Forces along with their weapons.
As the terrorist outfit does not understand the meaning of peace and what they believe as peace is a right granted to them for bullying and killing the Government Forces and the innocent population, the only alternative available for the Government is to address it in the own language of the terrorist outfit.
